Hello
Hello and welcome. My name is Tamar or Tammy, and I’ve been teaching art and design for 21 years. I hold a BA (Hons), a postgraduate teaching qualification, and GTCS registration. Over the years I’ve taught in secondary schools as Head of Art and Head of Faculty, and now teach 1:1 from my cosy Edinburgh studio.
I create lessons that are fun, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s interests and skill level. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent young people and adapt pace and materials so every learner feels safe, understood, and proud of their progress.
My Mission
I founded The City Workshop to share the joy of making art with others. I believe art is for everyone - whether your child thinks they’re “not any good at art” or has always loved creating. My goal is to build confidence and skills through clear, supportive teaching so young people can develop their own individual style and proudly say, “I made that!”
I provide a welcoming, well-structured environment where young artists can learn solid foundations, experiment with new ideas and techniques, and experience the happiness that comes from creating something with their own hands.
